Book Nerd.

I’m intrigued and inspired by all these girls posting about what they’re reading, what they plan to read, and what they think of the books they read… so I’m giving it a whirl… I really need to read more and be “plugged-in” less. That’s a huge goal of mine. {How sad is that? What in the world did we do before smart phones and laptops?!}

The book titles link up to my Good Reads account. {Are you on there? We should be friends!}

My 2012 reading list…

  1. Catching Fire {The Hunger Games #2} by Suzanne Collins. On hold
  2. The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks. Still waiting.
  3. If You Have to Cry: Go Outside by Kelly Cutrone. Always Reading. {it’s an amazing, motivating, and uber inspiring book}
  4. Hush, Hush saga by Becca Fitzpatrick. Finished. {This was one of my favorite books I’ve read… It’s very hard for me to get into a trilogy or saga of any sort. I have a short attention span. I never finished Twilight, I am still working on Hunger Games. I usually get bored after book #2… so for me to make it thru all 3 books and desperately wishing the final book was out – says a lot. If you like the paranormal, sci-fi, forbidden romance stuff – read this saga. I’m a sucker for all of those things – so I LOVED it.}
  5. Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy by E.L. James. Starting. {Loved this – can not say enough good things about it – no, the writing isn’t Pulitzer Prize winning, but the story is a good one.}
I keep thinking about a Kindle… and I haven’t decided how I feel about it. I love having a book, turning the pages, seeing the wear and tear of the books as I read them, I like having books on a shelf – call it nostalgia – call it crazy – but that’s why I haven’t quite jumped on the Kindle bandwagon yet. But I can completely see why a Kindle would be nice – less bulk, books delivered quickly, etc. What are your thoughts?
What are you reading? What’s your favorite book? What should I be reading?

  1. Greetings from a new follower of you and your authentic self-expression Jac.

    Every page I have encountered of your “blog” is refreshing…I feel you and your essence and I like it!

    As for books vs readers, Luddite-me resisted for a long time technology. I was in publishing (and still am) for so long…I resisted. But, then I got a Nook and I have slowly converted on how I buy new books…I am also a HalfPriceBooks loyalist…With a Nook, there are bookstores I can walk into and read for free…Barnes and Noble. Kindles are awesome too! I opted for a Nook and have never regretted it. I also have a B&N in walking distance so that is appealing.

    As for what I am presently reading for pure pleasure and preparation for a film viewing, Enders Game. My 8th grade daughter is too and we have a date with my sweetheart to see it all together after Nov. 1st but we are committed to reading the book first…for that it what I do when books are made into films…

    What am I always reading? Comfortable with Uncertainty by Pema Chodron. I cycle through the 108 Slogans to keep myself grounded.

    There are so many good books already in existence and being newly published…there is simply not enough time in a day to read all that I want…The Time Traveller’s Wife was a favorite as was Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffeneger…

    The photography on this site is wonderful!

    Warm Appreciation for your Sunny Presence!
