Miscellany Monday {Gym. Family. Fun.}

1. I’ve actually been getting back to working out. It’s felt great. I’ve made it to the gym more than once this week – and to me that’s a step in the right direction. This week I’m going to get back to strength training too and eating healthy. Like I said to my mom tonight “I’m going to try this get healthy thing yet again – for the billionth time in my life…” and hopefully she’s right when she says “but one time, it’ll stick.” {today I’m 400 calories under #winning} AND I think I need new tennis shoes… suggestions???

2. Zucchini. I don’t know about y’all but around my apartment – we love this stuff. Any way it’s made. Roasted, grilled, sauteed, casserole’d, or on a pizza {recipe coming this week!} but tonight I thought I’d try my hand at Zucchini Chips. I sliced two zuc’s very thinly, laid them in a thin layer on a cooling rack on top of a baking sheet, and seasoned them. I think these are something that’s going to take a couple times to get just right. They take awhile and I was getting impatient. First of all – they don’t need even half of the amount of seasoning that I thought they would. {oops!} Second, I didn’t have the temp right I don’t think. And… I was too damn hungry so I kinda hurried them along. They were good and edible but a bit too salty and not crispy enough. *sigh* #firstcookingfail #betterlucknextime

3. On Sunday, Mom and I got back from our girl’s vacation in the mountains. We spent 3{ish} days in Asheville, NC. It was wonderful. Mom and I had never gone on a vacation by ourselves before – but I’m so, so, so glad we did. Mom time is some of the best time. I sincerely hope we make a tradition out of this. {Vacation recap coming soon!}

4. Last Sunday also happened to be Dad’s Day. My Dad is the best – he’s tolerated my girliness for the last 29 years with lots of laughs and eye rolls. And I couldn’t have asked for anything more. He’s the guy who I measure any other guy in my life up to. I’m extremely lucky that he has allowed me to be “Daddy’s Little Girl” for so long. Poor guy, he’s gotten a lot of stray animals that way. ;) Bubba and I whipped up a delicious {if I do say so myself} lasagna dinner for him and had a relaxing family night. Those are some of the best nights.

5. At the Studio we are having a really fun contest for July’s Gallery Hop. If you’re in Columbus you should definitely head over here and check it out. The lowdown – take a picture on Instagram of how YOU define summer. Post it. Hashtag it with #amyclarkstudiosIGcontest. Email it to me. Bring your friends/family into the studio on July 7th to vote, see other entires, mingle, and enjoy Short North Gallery Hop. GET. ON. IT!!!!! #NOW

I’m linking up with Carissa over at lowercase letters for miscellany monday. It’s one of my favorite blog hops – Monday is the perfect day of random chatter. If you know me – you know I love that. ;)

Happy Hump Day, pumpkins!

It’s the little things…

  • Like when Tric runs into the room and finds the bug that I, for the life of me, can not find. Seriously, how do animals do that? Thank goodness though, cause I wasn’t going to sleep a wink until this ugly bug was found. What? I’m a girl, I don’t like them. This is why we need animals, people… without them… we would be constantly wondering where those damn bugs were.
  • Discovering unknown gorgeous roads in your part of town. My friend, Ryan, and I have been going for daily 3-4 mile walks and have been trying to take different routes each day and upon doing this we found this beautiful winding, country-esque road in the middle of the city. It even smelled like home… little streams trickling down the sides of road, huge trees, and just very untouched. I’m kind of in love with it.
  • Knowing that some of my absolute favorite people are coming up to visit on Saturday evening… makes. my. week. I love when I get to see my family and when I know they miss me… it warms my heart. I’m such a sap girl.
  • Stumbling upon old photos. Sometimes it’s so sweet {and sad} to relive those moments. Most seem like a lifetime ago, most were, but they were still such wonderful moments.
  • Unexpected girls nights. Drinks and a movie with two of my bestest ladies… um, of course. And I can not wait to see The Lucky One… I’m a sucker for a good romance and my bestie in MN said it’s fantastic.
  • Good hair days… c’mon ladies… you know what I’m talking about. Today wasn’t necessarily one of them, but I was wishing for it. What is it about those days that just make us feel like we can take on the world??
  • Rainy nights. They are the best thing to fall asleep to. And a storm just adds to it. I think it’s peaceful and soothing… until it’s still raining in the morning… then, I just want to sleep in.
  • Wearing dresses. Like I need to explain that. ;)
  • A text from my Daddy saying he misses me. Best. Thing. Ever.

What’s making you smile this week?

Happy Tuesday, sweets. I’ll be sure to let y’all know how The Lucky One is :)

Life. {Via Instagram}

Ohhh Instagram, how I love thee. I wish I had taken more pictures this weekend… but, I didn’t. How cute is Swag? He’s my bro and Hollie’s pup and he’s a giant! But sooo lovable. And I did some drinkin’ this weekend… Jack, tea, coffee… {Jack failed at making me feel better.} And those boys… two of my bestest guys {the blonde’s my bro – the birthday boy}.

I woke up Saturday morning feeling so yucky. Sore throat, stuffy nose, coughing… the works. And that wasn’t boding well for me because I had a busy day – work and my brothers birthday celebration. So I made myself some tea and ignored the sickness that was setting in. It was such a rainy, rainy day for a scavenger hunt – but it was a lot of fun despite the rain and being sick. We had to do everything from get a random person’s number {which I did, then got asked out on a date – by a 20 year old – I’m almost 29, guys. Needless to say we had a good laugh} we had to do a shot with a random person {that turned out comical – Amy ended up doing a shot with a friend of mine from HS – so we cheated a bit, whatevs} we had to skinny dip in Lake Logan {we didn’t do that one – ran out of time} and visit a legendary “haunted” rock in our area… among LOTS of other things.

Sunday I had a lazy day around the house, sat on the porch and soaked up the beautiful day. I wish I hadn’t felt so sick, I’d have loved to go for a hike. Oh well.

{I realize it’s halfway thru the week and I’m posting about the past weekend – it’s my blog, I do what I want. ;) }

Happy hump day, dolls!

My Weekend… {via Instagram}

Finally, the Android phones were able to get Instagram – and I’m kinda loving it. It’s a very fun app, oh it’s the little things in life. :)

1. Orly nail polish in Green with Envy. Fun shade, but needed 3 coats. Grrr.

2. TOAST. I gave up bread and french fries for Lent. I missed the bread – after having fries yesterday – I didn’t really miss them. {thank goodness!}

3. Gorgeous tree outside my apartment.

4. Jell-O cupcakes my mom made then we made homemade whipped cream to top them!

5. Silence. {the third book in the Hush, Hush saga.} I recommend it… I’m beginning to think angels are a little sexier than vampires. ;)

6. My Easter outfit. Cardigan – Old Navy. Dress – Ruche. Espadrilles - Kohl’s.

7. My gift from the Easter bunny. A new coral bag and earrings :)

8. Relax time on Saturday, between the shopping and the baking. Coffee and Glamour magazine with Lauren on the cover. Gorgeous.

9. A little whiskey for the weekend.

10. Fluffy socks.

11. New shoes from my Momma. LOVE.

12. Tric didn’t want me to pack for home.

13. Ricotta cookies. DELICIOUS. Will be posting the recipe and lots of pics soon!

Hope y’all had a wonderful Easter weekend!
